IEC 60309 320P6 Splashproof

The pin and sleeve design of this standard provides some degree of weatherproofing, indicated by its IP (Ingress Protection) marking. The plugs used in this series are IP44 which provide splash-proof protection. Overall, this standard is common in open-air conditions where high power draw is required and protection from individuals, dust, water and chemicals is desired. The IP code, as defined by standard IEC 60529, classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solids and liquids. 


IP Rating First numerical digit: SOLIDS...

0 = not protected

1 = Object size protected against >50mm. Any large surface of the body, such as the back of the hand, but no protection against deliberate contact with a body part.

2 = Object size protected against >12.5mm. Fingers or similar objects.

3 = Object size protected against >2.5mm. Tools, thick wires, etc.

4 = Object size protected against >1mm. Most wires, screws, etc.

5 = Dust Protected. Ingress of dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the satisfactory operation of the equipment; complete protection against contact.

6 = Dust Tight. No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact.


IP Rating Second numerical digit: LIQUIDS...

0 = not protected

1 = Object size protected against: Dripping water. Dripping water (vertically falling drops) shall have no harmful effect.

2 = Object size protected against: Dripping water when tilted up to 15°. Vertically dripping water shall have no harmful effect when the enclosure is tilted at an angle up to 15° from its normal position.

3 = Object size protected against: Spraying water. Water falling as a spray at any angle up to 60° from the vertical shall have no harmful effect.

4 = Object size protected against: Water splashing against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect.

5 = Object size protected against: Water jets. Water projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects.

6 = Object size protected against: Powerful water jets. Water projected in powerful jets (12.5mm nozzle) against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects.

7 = Object size protected against: Immersion up to 1m. Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion).

8 = Object size protected against: Immersion beyond 1m. The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions which shall be specified by the manufacturer. Normally, this will mean that the equipment is hermetically sealed. However, with certain types of equipment, it can mean that water can enter but only in such a manner that it produces no harmful effects.

12awg 3 Conductor SJT (Service Junior Thermoplastic) Cordage

12awg-3c cable is UL Rated to deliver 20A at up to 300V. However, the actual voltage is dependent on the types of male and female connectors used with the cable. For cord sets with IEC 60320 connectors on both ends, the cable is rated for 20A @ 125V and 20A @ 250V. Because these connectors are rated for use at either voltage, it is very important that you double check the voltages match between the PDU and the Equipment, otherwise, you may damage the equipment.

IEC 60320 C21 CONNECTOR (FEMALE)

  • The IEC 60320 C21 is a grounded 3 Wire connector rated up to 250V and 20 Amps. The C21 mates with a C22 or C20 inlet, and is commonly used in a jumper cable scenario in IT Installations providing power from a PDU to a server, router, switch or other computing device. The C21 is a HIGH TEMPERATURE version of the C19 connector, with a maximum pin temperature of 155°C instead of the standard 65°C ofa C19, and is typically used in high powered blade servers, large network routers, and other IT equipment that draws more power than a standard C13 can accommodate.
