More Information About P-Lock Power Cables

P-Lock power cables are quickly becoming one of the most popular types of locking power cable in the data center and IT sectors. Most commonly used to connect a PDU or CDU (power distribution units) to a piece of computing hardware such as a Server, Router, Switch, or Firewall.

The P-Lock cable features two tabs on the plug (male) of the cable, which, when used with a matching P-Lock outlet/receptacle, securely locks into place by latching underneath the edge of the receptacle. Many of the prominent PDU manufacturers today are utilizing P-Lock receptacles, including Server Technology, Raritan, and Vertiv.

P-Lock cables are typically used in high availability data centers and mission-critical systems to ensure that accidental disconnects due not occur, causing costly downtime.

Types of P-Lock Power Cables

P-Lock plugs come in either a C14, or C20 style. The C20 plug is used when higher amperages are required, while the C14 is used in lower amperage applications.
